If you day dream about catching a native brook trout on on a classic Virginia mountain stream like the Rapidan River in Madison County or the Conway River in Greene County, or maybe the tug of a giant rainbow trout or brown trout on the Jackson River in Bath County or the Bull Pasture River in Highland County, then you already appreciate the amazing outdoor opportunities we can enjoy in these mountains of Virginia. Perhaps for you it is the call of buck fever when deer season opens this November, when you can see your breath in the near dawn, slipping quietly through the woods to your tree stand overlooking a grove of stately oaks. You know it is the solitude of being alone in nature that brings you solace and grounds you in your natural surroundings. You know it is your heritage, either inherited or learned, that connects you with this earth that man did not make and that we are blessed to witness.

If you already know these things and favor them as I do, you may already know about Bath County, Virginia: a breathtaking Allegheny Mountain paradise with the second lowest population per square mile in all of Virginia. Bath County may be best known for the historic Homestead Resort in Hot Springs along the Jackson River but those who love the outdoors for hiking, fishing, floating the rivers or hunting in the vast expanses of public land like the 6000 acre George Washington National Forest appreciate it most for it’s unspoiled nature, it’s postcard worthy views from every curve of the winding country roads and the great relief it can give from the congested world we know too well.
Bath County real estate is a case of few and far between with few transactions per year and some remarkable values where supply and demand seem to co-exist in a much more stable manner than in the cities. My recent indoctrination to the area is an amazing 80 acre property at an elevation of 2041 feet with a trout stream running right through it. It is called Journeys End and was created by nature lovers like you who enjoy sleeping to the sounds of lively stream and virtually unlimited acreage to enjoy with its long boundary with the national forest. The residence is a result of creative acuity and painstaking detail to create the perfect home to enjoy the incredible views and water features of this wonderful property. I hope you will visit Bath County soon and get to know it’s special nature if you haven’t already. We would love to show you Journey’s End if you think a place like this might suit.
