The Downtown Mall

The Downtown Mall was created in the late 70’s by visionaries that bricked over Main Street and converted our struggling downtown into a pedestrian mall. It didn’t happen overnight but it did happen and few places in this country can rival the vitality and energy that hum as strollers walk past boutique shops, fine restaurants, kiosks and street musicians.

Dining

Restaurateurs have discovered that Charlottesvillians are foodies. From the Downtown Mall one could walk to at least thirty fine restaurants and scattered throughout the city, county and countyside are countless inns and eateries catering to picky eaters. Don’t worry, we love our barbeque, subs and donuts as much as you do.

Outdoor and Fitness:

To me, the best part about Charlottesville is what surrounds it. Beautiful countryside watered with bountiful springs, streams and rivers, rich, fertile land and soft, old mountains beckoning anyone who loves the outdoors to come out and play. Here are a few links to our playgrounds, wild and domestic.
