Nelson County is located south of Albemarle County and is primarily mountainous in character. Many of the larger, more spectacular farms tend to be along the county's many rivers, incorporating the rich bottomland associated with them. Wild and wonderful might summarize a quick drive through of the county but one could easily miss some of the magnificent properties tucked away on quiet country roads. Nelson County is ideal for anyone who is desirous of privacy since it is still so undeveloped yet within easy reach of Charlottesville. It's County seat, Lovingston is quite charming with many historic buildings and antique shops and is located about 30 minutes from Charlottesville.
